Woznation

September 2nd marked the first day of the quarter and my first day back to work.  The timing was great in that I was back in the office to help teach again (which I really love).  And I had 2 weeks to catch-up on research projects at home.  So when I actually sat down at my desk, I felt that I could hit the ground running.

One big change that we made was taking Wil out of daycare and hiring a nanny to come 3 days a week.  We were so fortunate to find an awesome nanny who was looking for part-time work on M/W/F to work around her T/Thurs class schedule.  After we met her, I talked to my advisors and worked my schedule around the nanny’s hours and then would catch-up on extra work at night and on weekends.  Its been an adjustment, but everything seems to be working out great.  Our nanny is Liz, who is cool, calm and collected….many of the things I am not, haha.  She’s a perfect balance for the kids.  She loves to take them out and even has a network of other nannies who she gets together with so all the kids can play.  Wil has already met a new friend, Addy, who is 2.  And when I was at the zoo a few weeks ago, Addy and her nanny spotted us and introduced themselves!  Baltimore is such a small world.

Its nice to be back at work. I really love what I do and am lucky that I still have 2 days a week (well 4 if you count the weekends) with the munchkins. I’m still getting the hang of balancing everything, but we’re starting to figure it out!  Thanks to Wil and Evie for being super awesome during my transition back to work.  You’re such happy kids and having been taking things in stride. Now that Wil is finally starting to ‘get’ certain events – I really wanted to make a big deal about my favorite holiday: the 4th of july!  I was so excited for the holiday and looked up parades and fireworks and all these fun things to do….then I came down with an infection the night before.  Ugh!  I was so sick.  But Phil was amazing and took care of the kids so I could get as much rest as possible and still have a good day.  We carried on and went to the Towson, MD parade:

Did you know they cant throw candy anymore?!?!  I was very upset.  But Wil liked the firetrucks and music. And was pretty nervous about the motorcycle brigade.  I enjoyed the bagpipes. We left before the whole things was over, but before meltdowns began – so I’ll call it a win.

That afternoon, we played in the spicket.  Wil loves bath-time, but had a horrible time at the pool the last time we went.  We thought playing outside in the water might be a good middle ground and we’ll work our way back up to the pool again. The neighborhood kids flocked to the water buckets and squirt guns!  Freddy Jr. and siblings came by to play, along with Roshera from across the street. Its always fun talking to the neighborhood kids! Evie hung-out inside through the whole thing.

That night, Dimps gave us the key to watch the fireworks on his roof while he and Christa were out of town.  I watched you-tube videos of fireworks with Wil before we left to get him excited about what was to come.  We brought Barney along and made it about 10 minutes into the fireworks (which started at 9:30 pm) before all the kids started screaming.  It had a been a long day and we were all tired.

Despite the long day and me being sick, I think it was a success. (?)  Wil seemed to enjoy the you-tube videos more than anything that day, so sometimes I question whether all the trouble was even worth it. But hopefully we’re laying the foundation for all the holidays in the future.

The news is spreading, but I finally have a bit of photographic evidence…Phil and I are expecting baby #2!

I had been meaning to scan in ultrasound photos for a few weeks now, but our copier is broken.  So I finally took a digital picture of the ultrasound photo so I could upload it.  Embarrassing.   Its like the stone ages over here!  We have a few cool 3-D photos too.  But they mostly make her look like Skeletor, so Ill leave you with the 2D.

Oh that’s right…. I said ‘her’.  Its a girl!  Phil is already looking forward to reenacting this scene in Bad Boys II when it comes dating time (NSFW, Adult Language):

Holy Moly – its been a busy few weeks.  But we’re here.  And we finally have internet 🙂  We are still unpacking boxes and figuring out life here in Baltimore, but things are going well.  Ill work on some monster posts on the move and Wil this weekend!

Hi everyone.  So this is our first post. It may take me awhile to get the hang of this blogging thing,  but its my attempt to keep you all informed on how things are going in the dirty jerz.  I cant promise it will be interesting or entertaining, but I CAN promise lots of sarcasm and complaining. You’re already hooked, aren’t you?  I also hope to use this blog as a way to catalog recipes and pieces I’m playing.  Phil will probably use it as a way to share physics lectures, political articles, and gaming techniques with his friends.  Obviously, we have a very succinct vision for this blog.  Enjoy.
