Im kind of obsessed with the slideshow feature I discovered for my Barney post the other day.  So Im posting random pictures taken from the last 2 weekends so I can try it out again.  Our last two weekends have consisted of dining al fresco, going to the beach, walking around ocean grove, gay pride parades, and geese.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

After previewing this, I realize that these pictures wont be nearly as exciting for everyone else to look at, but Phil and I enjoyed taking pictures around these parts to commemorate our time in Asbury.  So Im posting them anyway.

We decided to go into the city this past weekend, since we have limited weekends with such freedom. We werent really sure what we were going to do, but we figured we’d either try to see a show or go to a museum and then hit up chelsea market.  So we started in Times Square where they have the last-minute ticket booth and you can get 50% off tickets for shows taking place that afternoon.  There werent many musicals being offered that we wanted to see, but the play ‘Motherf**ker with the Hat’ still had tickets for that afternoon, so we decided to stand in line and see if we’d get lucky.

Well we were standing in line for maybe 20 minutes or so, when we got approached by someone who worked there.  And he says ‘Someone said they thought a pregnant lady was standing in line, but they werent sure.  Now that I see you, you are CLEARLY pregnant.  You can go to the front of the line!  Come with me!’  Phil and I were astounded.  Apparently this was no act of chivalry – they consider pregnancy a ‘medical condition’ that allows people to go to the front of the line!  Had we known this, we might have been going into the city every weekend for these deals!  We were pumped and got some sweet seats for the play that afternoon!

It was really fun.  The main actor and actress were amazing in it (and up for Tonys!).  Chris Rock was in it, too. Which was just fun to see.  It was only a 5 person show, in a relatively small theater – so it was a very up-close and personal kind of experience.  And we got to say we saw a show on Broadway!

Then we ate cupcakes:

Bakeries are the new Breweries.  At least since I became pregnant.  Yuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmm.  It was a great afternoon.

Moving to B-town

Sorry, not that b-town.

We were down in Baltimore last weekend for our first apartment hunting trip.  We wanted to check out the area we were thinking about living in and check out how bad the commute was from downtown to Phil’s work.  We were looking to rent within a few blocks of Patterson Park (based off a little research and conversations with people who were already down there).  And once we got there, we absolutely loved the area and the commute was definitely doable! Score.

We saw about 10 properties.  And although we didnt expect to find something our very first trip,  we ended up putting in an application on the first house that we saw!  Apparently there were a few other applications in on the property, but obviously we were the most awesome.  We finalized the paper work this past Thursday!  It feels so good to have some housing set up for Baltimore!  I will send out a birth announcement/moving announcement in July (I dont want to post the address on the internet, but email me if you really want to know it).  Here are a few pictures until then:

These are pictures the owners sent me from after the original renovation.  There have been a few renters since then, but it is still very nice.  It is a ‘row house’  so its very long and skinny and has 3 floors. It also comes with parking in the back, which is key in this area.  I dont have any pictures of the basement level, but it is finished and will be a very cozy guest room for any visitors!  I am thrilled to live on a street where we can take barney right outside instead of going down 3 flights of stairs for every bathroom break!  And also to carry in groceries right in our back door.  Ahhh – the little things.

The park is only .2 miles away and the harbor is only a mile.  There are lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance.  And we cant wait to take advantage of all the downtown activities.  Not to mention root on my Orioles!!  Here is our street view:

Visitors (and baby-sitters) Welcome!

Yikes – I know I havent posted in a while.  But things are going well!  Im a little over 27 weeks now.  The weather has been so nice this weekend, Phil and I were out and about both days.  We went on a long walk on the ocean Saturday and a nice little hike this morning.  (This first picture below is actually from like a month ago, but it gives you that east shore ambiance im sure you are all craving).

We were hoping we could find someone on the trail smart enough to operate the camera on our phones so that we could get a family photo, but had no such luck (I use the term ‘we’ very loosely here, as phil had no interest in a family photo.)  So we have two separate pictures:

The shower last week in Indiana was absolutely wonderful!!  We had a great time and are so appreciative of all the people who came to say hi and wish us well.  I hope to post pictures from it soon!!  Unfortunately that sunday, half of my family had come down with the flu!!  Phil and I recovered and made it back to New Jersey late Monday night and we both took a few days working from home so we wouldnt get anyone else sick.  We are back to 100% and next weekend are heading down to Baltimore to see a few rental properties.  We are also slowly packing up boxes in the evenings and with any extra time, we are reading as many baby books as we can.

Less than 3 months to go!

Well Celia finally made it to the dirty jerz on Friday afternoon/evening.  Since the day was pretty much shot, we decided to head back to Asbury and ‘do’ the city on Sunday instead.  So we had the pleasure of experiencing NYC rush hour! and made it back to the shore around 7:00pm.  We hung out and caught up that evening and then headed down to Seaside Heights on Saturday morning!!

Yes, THAT Seaside Heights. They have a big St. Patty’s Day parade every year, so we checked out the town along with all the Jersey Shore action.  We saw the house, the t-shirt shop, and Karma.  The parade was tons of fun and there was definitely some great people watching.

Saturday night we hung out in Asbury and looked through old high school photos.  Luckily, those are not in digital form or I would be posting those, too.  Sunday we woke up and made our way to NYC!!  We walked everyyyyyywhere!!  But saw so much!!  Here is a map of our travels:

I couldnt embed the mapmyrun map.  But here it is:  http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/29730028 if you want a closer look.  We walked the whole thing, except one subway ride from the line between Soho and Grand Central Station.  We saw ground zero, wall street, the stock exchange, charging bull, china town, little italy.  Then grand central station, 5th avenue, st. patricks, 30 rock, radio city music hall, christie’s auction house, trump tower, the plaza, central park, broadway, letterman studios, hello deli, times square, madison square garden,  and you can basically see the empire state building from anywhere.  Phew!  Im tired just typing all that.  Here are some highlights:

And my absolute fav:

I had such a blast, Celia!  Thank you sooooo much for coming!!!! See you in a few weeks!!

Lion’s Breath

Im feeling guilty because I havent posted, but there seriously isnt anything to report.  Im not holding out on anyone, I promise.  I WISH I could post that Im feeling the baby and I have a big ol bump, but I just dont!  Im trying to enjoy this time before I turn huge, but Im also excited to start feeling and looking pregnant.  Ill let yall know when that happens.

In the mean time, the only pregnancy-related activity ive done is take a prenatal yoga class.  There is a yoga studio in the building next to us, so it was super convenient but a little hokey.  There were only 3 of us in the class – the other 2 girls were much further along and we spent a lot of time ‘breathing to our baby’.  Im not very familiar with yoga, so when we started doing ‘Lion’s Breath’, lets just say I was caught a little off guard and had to stop myself from LOLing all over the place.  Heres a little tutorial:  http://www.examiner.com/yoga-in-dallas/pranayama-lion-s-breath . And yes, we looked like the guys in that picture.  Once we got past that, I actually learned a lot of good poses and it was fun to be around other pregnant women. So ill probably head back next week!

Im still not in pregnancy clothes yet, but I have started using the bella band my mom/sister got me for christmas.  From ingrid and isabel:

This allows me to unbutton my pants and not have them fall down.  (And are slightly more stylish than suspenders.)  Andrew said he could use one of these for bowl week.  I wholeheartedly agree – I wish I would have owned one of these things before I got pregnant. My work pants have morphed into yoga pants.  Its awesome.  Thanks Mom/Wendy!

Blizzard 2010

So we drove back from Indiana on Sunday Dec 26th – which also happened to be the night of a giant blizzard hitting the east coast.  The last 60 or so miles between Philly and Asbury Park took us about 3 hours.  I seriously have no idea how we made it home, other than Phil being crazy careful and going extra slow and cautiously. Gold star for Phil.

Obviously – when we got home – we first shoveled the snow out of our bedroom.  And then slept for a very long time.

We have since had a little snow vacation.  The whole coast is snowed in and both of our jobs instructed us not to come in Monday and Tuesday.  But I think we will be digging out and heading in tomorrow morning.  We will see how it goes.  Here are some images of the past few days.  Can you find the cars in the last 2 photos?!

Barney had a heck of a time running around with us today.  His favorite was jumping up on the giant snow piles.  Every once in awhile he would jump on one that wasnt very solid and he’d start to freak out and Phil would have to rescue him.  I have a feeling he’ll be enjoying this for a long time.
